Riga Central Terminal provides services for Panamax class vessels at Riga Port

On October 25 and 29, 2009 RCT executed two successful operations by fully loading  a Panamax type vessels, the largest bulk cargo carriers that can enter Riga port, with  coal and cast iron cargo.

‘The technical advantage of the deep-sea berth at Žurku sala (Rat Island) provides new opportunities for our company to receive and service larger class vessels. Up until October 2009, our terminal could only accommodate Panamax type vessels with partial cargo load limitation. The new facility at Zurku sala with draught of 14,5 metres allows us to fully load vessels up to 75,000 DWT (dead weight tons). We expect that this new terminal capability will significantly increase our competitiveness in the Baltic Sea region’ says Eri Esta, the Chairman of the Board of RCT.

Riga Central Terminal LLC is the largest multifunctional stevedoring company in the Republic of Latvia. Located in the port of Riga, it has been providing services since 1996. In 2008, RCT handled a total cargo throughput of 7,9 million tonnes RCT is part of Riga Commercial Port (SIA Rīgas Tirdzniecības osta) group of companies.
