"RIGA CONTAINER TERMINAL" LLC Cargo Turnover Grows by 30 %

The container cargo turnover at "RIGA CONTAINER TERMINAL" LLC (RIGACT) - a company of "Riga Commercial Port" LLC (RTO) - has increased by 30 % in 2012 (compared to 2011).

“It is due to the successful cooperation with container carriers Riga Container Line and CMA CGM, as well as the terminal infrastructure improvements and the purchase of new port equipment – therefore we have been able to achieve such a result in 2012. We have also been succeeding in the containerisation of general and bulk cargoes which provides export solutions for Russian, Kazakhstan and Belorussian cargo owners to deliver the production right to the final consignee,” says Raivis Veckāgans, the chairman of the company’s board.

In the general cargo segment, the increase constitutes 60 %. At the end of 2012, a new 4,800-square metre warehouse was put into operation of handling and storing general cargoes.

RIGACT specialises in container and general cargo handling and Sea – Rail container transhipment operations.
