“RIGA CONTAINER TERMINAL” LLC (RIGACT), a “Riga Commercial Port” (RTO) company, has set a new monthly record by handling just under 5,000 TEU of container cargos during the August, thus achieving the highest indicator since the company began its operations. The main factor contributing to this achievement is the empty container storage and handling operations launched by RIGACT and CMA CGM SA at the end of July.

“It is due to the RIGACT terminal infrastructure, cargo handling technologies and up-to-date port facilities that we can ensure a steady container cargo turnover increase. In the first eight months of this year the turnover has gone up by 40 % compared to the same period in 2011. The objective of RIGACT is to maintain its competitiveness and stability in the transit market,” says Raivis Veckāgans, Chairman of RIGACT’s Board.

RIGACT is located in the port of Rīga and it provides container, general, heavy and off-size cargo handling, specialising in Sea-Rail logistics solutions.

RTO is the biggest investor, developer and operator of port assets and transportation related service companies in the Republic of Latvia.

RTO comprises several business units operating in terminal services, railway freight transportation as well as infrastructure and real estate management in the Rīga port area.

In 2011, the company’s consolidated turnover was 111.4 million lats.
