Riga Container Terminal Enters into Long-Term Cooperation with Container Shipping Line CMA CGM

Riga Commercial Port’s (RTO) daughter company Riga Container Terminal LLC (RIGACT) has recently accepted a container ship of the CMA CGM SA company for the first time, handling more than 150 containers (190 TEU). CMA CGM is one of the world’s top three container carriers.

“We have just signed a long-term cooperation agreement with CMA CGM. It is to our satisfaction that we have succeeded to rouse interest of a world class container shipping line. We are planning to collaborate on developing a logistics connection with Moscow and Kaluga,” notes Raivis Veckāgans, Chairman of Board, RIGACT.    

RTO is the leading investor, developer and operator of port terminals and transit services in the Republic of Latvia. RTO comprises four business units that provide services ranging from terminal operations, railway freight transportation and forwarding to infrastructure and real property management in the Riga port area. Cargo volumes handled by RTO in 2010: terminal operations (7.45 million tonnes), rail freight haulage (9.45 million tonnes), and forwarding services (5.7 million tonnes).
